" Public Interest" means an outcome which affects any right of the public, public finances or the public good " Permanent Companion" means a person who is publicly acknowledged by a Member as that Member’s permanent companion " Parliament" means the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa " Organ of State" has the same meaning as defined in section 239 of the Constitution " Member" means a Member of the Assembly or Permanent Council Member " Immediate Family" means a Member’s spouse, permanent companion or dependents " Constitution" means the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa of 1996 " Conflict of Interest" except for the purpose of clause 5, means a situation in which a Member contrary to the obligation and duty to act for the benefit of the public exploits the relationship for personal or pecuniary benefit " Committee" means the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests as established by the Joint Rules of Parliament " Code" means the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests for Assembly and Permanent Council Members " Business Partner" means a person who shares a financial interest with a Member or that Member’s immediate family
